Blepharoplasty (eyelid) and facelifts (Ritidectomy) operations soars

In a recent report The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) said overall the number of procedures carried out was stable, by their 230 registered surgeons across the UK. The members performed 43,172 surgeries in 2012.

Gynecomastia or commonly known as on moobs – man boobs – was down 18% from 2011. However, Breast Enlargement or augmentation was the most common procedure in the UK with 9,843 going under the knife as seen in previous year.

PIP scare has a little impact on the numbers as it was down 1.6% comparatively to previous year.

Fat transfers numbers increased by 13% during the same period. Although, liposuction and tummy tuck numbers across both men and women dropped by 10%. Rajiv Grover, BAAPS President said “anti-ageing procedures showed a double digit rise, despite a double dip recession” in UK.

Note: The analysis was produced by using the data provided by BAAPS registered surgeon and does not include surgery performed by others who are not their members.
