What Is Vaginal tightening?
Vaginal tightening (Vaginoplasty) is a surgical procedure designed to tighten and rejuvenate the vaginal canal. It is also known as vaginal rejuvenation. The procedure involves removing excess vaginal tissue and tightening the vaginal muscles and surrounding structures to restore or enhance the tone and firmness of the vaginal walls.
Procedure
Vaginoplasty can be performed under general anesthesia, where the patient is unconscious, or local anesthesia with or without sedation, where the patient is awake but numbed in the surgical area. The surgeon makes incisions inside the vaginal canal, typically in the area around the posterior vaginal wall. The incisions may vary depending on the specific technique used and the individual's unique anatomy.
Excess vaginal tissue is removed, and the vaginal muscles and surrounding structures are tightened to restore or enhance the tone and firmness of the vaginal walls. The surgeon may use sutures to reinforce the tightening and provide support to the vaginal tissues. After the tightening and tissue adjustments are complete, the surgeon closes the incisions using dissolvable stitches. These stitches do not require removal and will dissolve on their own over time.
Recovery
Vaginoplasty recovery involves the healing process after the surgical procedure to tighten and rejuvenate the vaginal canal. During the recovery period, patients may experience some pain, discomfort, and swelling in the vaginal area. Pain medication is prescribed to manage the discomfort during the initial recovery phase.
Strenuous physical activities, sexual activity, and tight clothing should be avoided for at least 4 to 6 weeks to promote proper healing. Proper personal hygiene is crucial, and the surgeon provides instructions on how to clean the surgical site to prevent infection. Full healing and final results may take several weeks to a few months, during which you should follow your surgeon's guidance diligently to achieve the best possible outcome.
Benefits
The procedure tightens the vaginal canal, addressing concerns of vaginal laxity caused by childbirth, aging, or other factors.
Vaginoplasty can boost self-confidence and improve body image, especially for women who are self-conscious about vaginal laxity.
Some women experience improved bladder control as a result of vaginoplasty. Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can potentially reduce instances of stress urinary incontinence.
Vaginoplasty is typically long-lasting, providing ongoing improvements in comfort, satisfaction, and sexual well-being.
Risk & Complication
Vaginoplasty, like any surgical procedure, carries certain risks and potential complications. These may include infection, bleeding, scarring, changes in sensation, asymmetry, dissatisfaction with results, risks associated with anesthesia, hematoma formation, delayed healing, and a small risk of nerve damage leading to altered sensation or numbness in the genital area.
Following post-operative care instructions and having regular follow-up appointments can help minimize the likelihood of complications and contribute to successful outcomes.
